Fates Warningin klassikkoalbumin "A Pleasant Shade of Gray" boksiversio sisältää alkuperäisen albumin, liveversion bonusmateriaalin kera (soundcheck-biisi "We Only Say Goodbye" sekä Scorpions-studiocover "In Trance"), bonus-CD:n (2 demoa ja "Part II"-remix) sekä live DVD:n ("Live in Europe, June 1997", "Live at the Whisky, April 1998", "We Only Say Goodbye, Live in Athens 1999").

Edeltäviin julkaisuihin verrattuna yhden kappaleen pilkkominen 12 osaan vaikuttaa harmaalta ratkaisulta - mutta tässä harmaassa onkin huikeita sävyjä. Usein Jim Matheon sooloprojektiksi mielletty Fates Warning on nyt synkempi ja tunnelmoivampi kuin koskaan aiemmin.
