When work on "Revolver" was just finished, the Beatles played their first concerts in Asia in late June 1966. By that time they had grown tired of the rigors and narrowness of touring life, but Japan was a novelty they looked forward to. Although they found their visit uncomfortably regulated, their shows in St. Budokan on June 30th and July 1st were a huge hit and were televised on Nippon Television.
