Groove metal band DEVILDRIVER can look back on nine albums, countless international Tours, and worldwide success during their 30-year career. When the world went into lockdown in 2020, DEVILDRIVER didn't stop and released the acclaimed first part of their two-part Dealing With Demons saga. In times when the social climate is tougher than ever, DEVILDRIVER's tenth album, Dealing With Demons Vol. II, comes at just the right time.

The latest release from the quintet was once again produced by Steve Evetts with assistance from guitarist Mike Spreitzer. Dealing With Demons Vol. II is unmistakably harder and more relentless than its predecessor. It is mercilessly not only the dark side of the two albums but also looks into the darkest abysses of frontman Dez Fafara's psyche and his struggle with the demons that have haunted him for a long time.

The opener, 'I Have No Pity,' stands out with its contrasting and driving groove, cut through by Dez Fafara's icy voice. The outstanding production of the album delivers fat riffs, haunting leads, room-filling drums that perfectly underscore Fafara's vocal abilities. The eerie track 'Mantra' unleashes a wave of melodic aggression on the listener, immediately inspiring headbanging with its high tempo and occult lyrics. In dynamic tracks like 'Nothing Lasts Forever' and 'Summoning,' dark riffs alternate with memorable vocals, while one of the highlights is undoubtedly the exceptionally dark 'Through The Depths.' With its black metal-like passages, skillful guitar playing, and dark lyrics, the track showcases DEVILDRIVER's evolution in the last decade. 'Bloodbath' is as brutal and aggressive as its name suggests, while 'It's a Hard Truth' continues the onslaught and warns against illusions amidst balanced melodic leads. The final anthems, 'If Blood Is Life' and 'This Relationship Broken,' successfully round out Dealing With Demons Vol. II and bring together all the elements that make DEVILDRIVER one of the best in their genre. If anyone had even wondered if DEVILDRIVER would slow down anytime soon, Dealing With Demons Vol. II proves that even after 20 years in their career, they can conquer demons and continue to lead in the world of metal.
