Over the past few years, FEUERSCHWANZ has earned an outstanding position in the German metal scene and undoubtedly ranks as one of the hottest bands in the scene! This status is once again manifested by the brand new studio album Fegefeuer, which will be released on July 7, 2023. Fegefeuer is the successor to the tremendously successful previous work Memento Mori (2021), which entered straight at #1 on the official German album charts. Immediately after the release, the band played excellent co-headline sets at some of the biggest and most important festivals, such as the legendary Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze, topped off by a nearly sold-out Tour. With Fegefeuer, FEUERSCHWANZ now deliver further proof of their status! And, of course, the familiar twinkle in the eye and fun factor are not neglected on the new album.

On the new album, the band, led by founding member and lead singer Hauptmann Feuerschwanz, songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Hodi, as well as Johanna on the violin, combine their medieval-inspired folk metal with Heavy Metal influences. The opener 'SGFRD Dragonslayer' starts off directly as a pure Heavy Metal anthem. Lyrical references to the legendary dragon slayer Siegfried combine with hard riffing and Nordic mythology. On the second track, 'Bastard von Asgard,' FEUERSCHWANZ receives support from Eluveitie singer Fabienne Erni. The catchy party anthem 'Berzerkermode' invites you to enjoy mead and rum at a Viking party. Especially the first three album tracks, as well as the epic 'Highlander,' are the best proof of the band's development from comedy rock to metal. Other songs, such as the intense title track 'Fegefeuer,' the Lord of the Rings battle cry 'Uruk-Hai,' and 'Die Horde,' go straight to the hearts of long-time fans of the band.

FEUERSCHWANZ remains lyrically true to themselves on Fegefeuer, singing about long-forgotten legends, heroic battles, and showcasing outstanding musical skills and excellent songwriting. The album will be available in various formats, some of which include the live bonus album Live in Wacken 2022, featuring a recording of their co-headline show at the Holy Ground. With this new release, FEUERSCHWANZ temporarily takes their previous work to the top and already stirs up excitement and anticipation for what is to come in the future.
