Numen is the third album by ALKALOID, and it contains some of the band's most complex, thoughtful, and completely insane ideas. The album is told from the god-like perspective of an ancient alien who can reshape the entire galaxy with their demonic growls.
ALKALOID is still connected by their love for death metal. After all, they are a supergroup consisting of founding members of OBSCURA, DARK FORTRESS, and SPAWN OF POSSESSION. The fiery, finger-tapped solo that emerges after the halfway point of 'Clusterfuck' is crushed like an ant under a drop-D hammering.
But on 'Numen', the Bavarian band also plays with all sorts of genre experiments. 'The Cambrian Explosion' turns tech-death upside down with seductive hints of jazz and flamenco.
